Our History
Preston R. Wheeler and Otis D. Stuckey first started Wheeler and Stuckey
in 1945 at 1215 N. Walker in Oklahoma City. It was then that the three fine traditions began which continue to today, the traditions of providing patients with:
Quality Pharmaceuticals

Specialty Compounding
Personalized Patient Care
The number of stores expanded, but it continues to be an independently owned
pharmacy, not a corporate chain. With strong ties to the community, Wheeler and Stuckey, continue to focus on providing a warm, friendly atmosphere with
professional care. They still have patients coming to them who were patients when the doors first opened!
Corporate ownership passed from the original Wheeler and Stuckey partnership to Oklahoma professionals
with Oklahoma ties, employees who knew this specialized business and were familiar with all the patients and tradition of patient care.
In 1957, the May Avenue store opened and in 1963, the store in the Physicians'
and Surgeons' Building opened. One of the hallmarks of a good atmosphere and solid foundation is longevity with employees. Wheeler and Stuckey still
has an employee working for them that started in the May Avenue store in 1963.

Dr. Dale Metzler, president of Wheeler and Stuckey, graduated from
pharmacy school from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1973 and joined Wheeler and Stuckey in 1974. In 1983, he bought a small interest in the
pharmacy and in 1986 purchased controlling interest with a partner. In 1998, Dr. Metzler became sole owner of Wheeler and Stuckey. He brings with him the tradition of personalized patient care, pharmaceutical
compounding, and professional excellence.
Dr. Metzler has worked in an advisory capacity on the Pharmacy
and Therapeutics Committees of several national insurance companies, as President of the Oklahoma County Pharmacists Association, and continues to
serve on the Legislative Committee of the Oklahoma Pharmacists' Association.
In his spare time, Dr. Metzler works as a free lance photographer and has been
published in several national publications.
